Make-up Party @ bluemercury

For me working with Gilda’s Club was about giving back. Recently I learned firsthand how quickly anyone can be diagnosed with cancer or see loved ones suffer from it regardless of their age. At 33 years of age my niece was diagnosed with breast cancer. My dad, who never smoked, was diagnosed with lung cancer. After his chemotherapy he was never physically the same. I became very aware of what an emotional roller coaster those touched by cancer are on. Gilda’s Club was how I hoped to make a difference in someone’s day and make them a little happier. And just maybe, help them forget about being ill or grieving over  someone.

When I approached the bluemercury team about having a Makeup, Skincare party for Gilda’s Club they were anxious to get it going. Everyone wanted to “make a difference.”  We found that this phrase meant many different things to many of us. For some an element of “making a difference” was simply being a grateful person that wished to give something back. Another was that by helping out they were able to contribute to a cause that they themselves have been affected by or honor their loved ones who were.

Each of us enjoyed the evening and we can’t wait for the party next month.
