Red Door Society — it is the glue that holds Gilda’s Club together

Did you know?

  • 10,000 residents of southern New Jersey will be diagnosed with cancer this year according to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services
  • According to a survey done by the Lance Armstrong Foundation the non-medical aspects of cancer are the most difficult, lingering, and overlooked.
  • Gilda’s Club is a business.  We have an annual budget to balance.  We have monthly utility and mortgage bills.  We raise every dime we spend and not a single penny comes from the state or federal government.
  • While you may have your choice of doctors and hospitals, Gilda’s Club South Jersey is the only comprehensive support program in our region.

If that information is important to you, you are invited to our Red Door Society reception on Thursday, May 5 at the beautiful home of Jesse and Christine Vitagliano in Ocean City to hear about how you can make a difference for people living with cancer right here in our community.

The Red Door Society at Gilda’s Club South Jersey is a multi-year giving society that directly supports our program, which is made up of 1300 annual activities - free of charge - to meet the growing needs of the men, women, teens and children who are living with cancer.  We are the antidote to the Armstrong Foundation findings that the social and emotional aspects of cancer are the toughest.

The reality of our work is seen in the faces and heard in the stories of those who walk through our Red Door.   Whether it is a young child in Noogieland who is dealing with his sibling’s diagnosis or one of our older members in a bereavement group figuring out how to go on without their spouse--we are here for you, your family, and your neighbors to help them through a tough time.

By becoming a member of the Red Door Society, your financial support will allow us to plan for our future, expand our program and reach many more of the 10,000 people diagnosed in southern New Jersey every year—so that no one ever has to face cancer alone.

We need your support.  Please call us today 609-926-2699 to RSVP.

Are you living with Ovarian Cancer?

If so, the Cancer Support Community needs your help!

We are pleased to announce the launch of an ovarian cancer survey that aims to assess the psychosocial needs of women living with ovarian cancer. Survey questions center around issues of body image, employment, fertility and relationships. We would like to better understand women’s concerns in order to develop educational programming that directly meets their needs. Access the Online Survey through the following link:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OvarianCancerSurvey
